Professional Installation Process
Hawaiian Telcom technicians will ensure that the installation is not only efficient but also minimally invasive.
1. Bringing Fiber to your Property
A technician may visit your home to do pre-work 1-2 days before your scheduled appointment to connect fiber to your property. During this phase, they will require access to outside areas near your utility meter. You do not need to be home, but please ensure access by unlocking gates and securing pets as needed. Fiber is brought to your home in one of two methods depending on your property’s utility setup.
Aerial via telephone poles:
Or, underground via conduit lines.
2. Initial Assessment
Our technician will map out the path to bring the fiber cable into your property. This process takes into account factors such as wall structure, potential obstacles, and the most direct route to maximize efficiency. The goal is to determine the best entry point for the fiber cable and plan the optimal route to reach key areas within your property.
3. Drilling with Precision
To bring the fiber inside your property, our technicians will use a precise drilling method to create small holes for the fiber cable entry. The holes are then sealed with silicon. This approach ensures accuracy while minimizing the risk of damage to walls. The meticulous drilling process is crucial for a clean and unobtrusive installation.
4. Cable Routing and Management
Following the drilling phase, our technicians carefully route the fiber optic cable along the pre-planned path. To maintain a neat and organized appearance, they utilize cable clips to secure the cable to the walls, preventing any sagging or damage.
5. Connection Testing
Our technicians will conduct thorough tests to ensure the integrity and reliability of the fiber connection. This includes checking for signal strength, data transmission speed, and overall network stability.
